What have we been up to?

Emma was weighed and measured yesterday, and she is 13.54 lbs, and 24 7/8 inches long. She is in the 50th% for weight, and 75th for height. She is one healthy, growing, baby. I"m so thankful for that. Kenadi was never above 10th %. and quickly fell off the charts. Not because she was unhealthy, but because, A) she is just small and B) those charts are crazy anyways, and I'm sure they are based on a formula-fed baby.

A week ago Thursday, we had a couple of NICE days... I'm talking about 75 degrees or more. We took advantage of those days and went on a little walk in the woods one day (I forgot my camera), and the Zoo the next day. We had so much fun! This one is a Pygmy Hippo.

THEN, that following Monday we had an ice storm. For a couple of days the temp never got above 25 degrees. It was wonderful because school was canceled and Randy got to stay home most of the week. We took advantage of one of Emma's nap times (don't worry, I had the baby monitor on me and I checked on her regularly) and played outside. Kenadi didn't enjoy the sled ride because as soon as she got in the first time I went too fast and she promptly rolled out of it. Since then she wanted nothing to do with it.
So we made some sad snow angels. I say sad, because it was mostly ice and there wasn't much of it, so you couldn't really see our angels too well.
I played in the laundry basket by myself. I tried to get Randy and Kenadi to pull/push me, but they wouldn't. I think I was having more fun than them.Here's Kenadi trying to escape the basket. Like my big blue sweats? They are a hand-me-down from my cousin when we were in college. She had them in high-school for basketball. I love them, minus how they make me look.

Emma

Emma is 3 months old now, and I had some pictures I wanted to share. I just love to kiss her little chubby cheeks. Isn't she so cute? Also, I want to clear a few things up. First of all, I am embarrassed that you all know that I am on facebook because I have had some preconceived notions about it. Second of all, it's not that bad. Third of all, Randy must be worried about my blogging habits lately, but and I am NOT spending my free time on facebook instead of blogging... I haven't been doing very well at either of them because I am reorganizing my life right now. Yep. New Years resolutions. I am becoming organized, and I haven't figured out when I will blog yet. Probably when I'm not beating Randy at games in the evening. Maybe I'll do it then. I also wanted to tell you all to check out Pandora radio on the internet. It is my new favorite thing! You can make your own music stations. This is something I learned about over the holidays. One more thing... Does anyone know of a cheap, easy way to put your blog in a book? Let me know!

Bad Pet Owners

We are no longer pet owners (unless you count Bob the goldfish).  Sadie has moved on to greener pastures.  A sweet family that has older children came and picked her up on Sunday.  It was actually harder than we imagined.  Tara and I were both pretty sad.  Kenadi cried for about a minute then was over it.  She just keeps asking where Sadie is.  We just felt that we couldn't give Sadie the attention she needed and Kenadi was just scared of her.  Lesson learned.

I know, you are all thinking, "what this is Randy writing this?!"  Yes it is.  I figured someone needed to post something here.  Tara has recently discovered Facebook.  So she has been neglecting the blog.  I discovered twitter, which is fun, except I only have one friend on there, so feel free to join and look me up so I can at least feel like I'm popular.

Dancing

Doesn't this background make you want to dance?  It reminded me of how much I love dancing.  It also reminded me of some dancing memories I have.   I'll name a few, and if any of you have some you want to add, feel free.  First, stake youth dances.  Sitting on the side, wishing that my crush would ask me to dance... when I was 14.  When I was older, just freestyle "butterfly" dancing (barefoot) with Wendy, and not caring what anyone thought.  Swing dancing with friends at a dance studio for old people.  Country dancing, and dancing and dancing.  I'm talking about a kind of fast swing dance, but countried up a little, not line dancing.  Line dancing is fun, but I love the fast country dancing.  I used to go at least 2 times a week, and I had a perfect dance once.  A friend of mine was really good, and I remember dancing with him every time I went... and one of our dances was so fast, with tons of spins and twirls, and dips and... we never messed up.  Rythm... loud music... care free... I LOVE dancing.  Then, I remember dancing with my roommates.  We would dress up crazy and go dance in the middle of the floor.  People would look at us like we were crazy, and we had so much fun!  I remember going to break dancing club with Judy and learning a few moves.  I remember the dance I asked Randy to, and the one I made him ask me to.  =)  I remember that my mom loves to dance.  

   I watched Mamma Mia with some friends for the first time this week, and it made me want to dance.  It reminded me of myself.  It also reminded me of foot loose, Save the last dance, Greese, and more.  It also reminded me that Haley and I used to pretend that we lived in a musical and we'd singand dance all day.  How funny!  Oh, I miss dancing.  (Randy, if you read this, you could ask me to go dancing with you or something... I wouldn't mind)

  Now, I love to watch Kenadi dance.  I hope she keeps it up.

A new member of the family... Sadie

Oh, what have we done?

Or, I should say, what has our neighbor done?  Our sweet neighbor, "Grandpa Curtis" got Kenadi and Emma a dog.  He said we didn't have to take her, but after a few days of thinking, we decided to take her.  I still have mixed feelings about it, but she's a cute little thing.

Aren't they so cute?  I had to put this one up, even though this post is about the dog.

Kenadi is a bit timmid of her... hopefully she gets over it.  That is one reason why we got her.

Are we crazy?

I'm not done with Christmas yet...

I know that I should change the background and music so they're not "Christmasy", but I need to wait until after the new year.

I decided to take pictures of all of the different arrangements that Kenadi did with our nativity set. (a kid-proof one I made last year) I wish I started taking them earlier... she would carry around baby Jesus and kiss him, put him in Joseph's arms, take the stick, put a new LONG one in, etc. I loved to watch her play with this set. I loved to hear her sing all the Christmas songs and say, "this one's about Jesus was born!"


Poor little Emma. She kept looking at those goldfish like she wished she could eat them! Randy and Kenadi are getting into their stockings, and Kenadi immediately wanted to eat all the candy. I wanted Santa to only give her crackers and healthy stuff. Santa's so soft-hearted,that she got a bunch of candy too.


We had lots of fun playing with new toys, and then we went over to some friends house for Christmas dinner. Kenadi loved it. She spent most of the time on the trampoline, and then in the house "playing piano". She'd even turn the pages on the book and sing while she was playing.

I loved being with our friends on Christmas. They were our family for the day, and I'm so thankful for that.

Crafty Chick

Kenadi and I have been busy... well, mostly me. For the last 3 weeks, Kenadi has been really sick for 2 1/2 of them. It's been one awful, long, stay-at-home, time. So, I've been trying to keep us from going crazy. Here's all of the stuff we made!


We collected pine cones and put glue and glitter and a hook on them for ornaments.

We made a count-down to Christmas.

I made these divine Truffles... and Randy and Kenadi helped by putting the sprinkles on top.

Here's a cinnamon ornament. Yum! Smells so good!

Here's my bead monogram ornaments... I did these all by myself! =) (they are very easy)

Our tree didn't have an angel, or a star... it needed something so I made this bow with lots of hot glue.

These are coasters that I made and gave out last year, but never made one for myself... finally I got a set of my own.

Pretty good, huh? I failed to take a picture of our snowflakes we cut... nothing special but good time with Kenadi.
