Tara told me that I have to write this post for some reason. I guess she wants me to contribute. I'm apologizing now for this being so long. Well, here is our story of almost getting stuck in Mexico. We started the morning early because we needed to catch our shuttle to the airport at 7:30. Well, at about 7:40 the shuttle came and picked up some other people but wouldn't let us on because we weren't on the list. But after only one phone call, there was a guy on the way to pick us up. So we just got to the airport about 1/2 hr later than we expected, but it was ok. We still had 2 hrs before our flight left. At check-in they tell Tara to fill out a form that says she's pregnant and doesn't hold the airline responsible if something happens. On the form she wrote that she was 7 months pregnant (even though she's actually over 8, sinner). We then proceeded through security and waited forever in the airport because our flight was delayed about a 1/2 hr.
We then boarded the plane, and just before take-off, a flight attendant came up to Tara and told her that she was too pregnant to fly and she needed to get off the plane, unless she had a Dr.'s note. We Tara gave her the Dr.'s note and the lady took it to her supervisor and then came back saying the note did not contain enough information about her "condition" and it was too old, so she would have to get off the plane. Well talk about ruining a person's vacation. They said we could get off, see the Dr. at the airport, and then get on a later flight. So after a few tense moments with the flight staff, and threats to call the police on us, we got off the plane. The best part about it is they were telling us it is for our own benefit, now explain to me how kicking us off a flight we wanted to be on is for our benefit. They then took us to their little office where they proceeded to tell us that all their flights for the rest of the day were full and they were also full the next day (saturday). They said they would put us in a hotel and try and get us on stand-by for saturday, but they were sure they could get us out by Monday. Now that was sure comforting. Throughout all this Tara is balling because we don't know what is going to happen to us and Kenadi is waiting for us. Tara told her the night before we would pick her up after her nap and she was so excited. Now, for all we knew, we wouldn't get back until Monday.
The airline then informed us we could call our Dr. and have him fax a new note with all the crazy information on it (her name, how many weeks she was, her condition, etc.). Well that took about an hour because they couldn't get the fax to work, then it was their lunch break. We then just got an email address they could send it to and that worked. So the airline cleared us to fly, but there were no flights. Luckily we had a travel agency, the one's we one the trip from. So I called them and they were really mad at that airline. They told me that they were breaking the law by kicking us off the flight since they flew us down to mexico. By law they have to fly us home. Well it was too late for that, since our flight was going to be landing in Dallas soon. So they worked really hard to find another flight for us. Now it's about 2:00 and we are starving (we last ate at about 6:45). But there aren't any food vendors in the airport that would take credit card. Tara finally asked the AeroMexico people if they had any snacks or food she could have. They then gave us a voucher to use at a restaraunt in the airport. So that was nice of them. While we were eating, one of the managers came and found us and told us that they (even though it was our travel agency) found us a flight on american airlines and we needed to be there in a 1/2 hr. So we quickly finished our lunch and walked about a mile to the AA counter and checked in. They didn't even notice Tara was pregnant, nor did they care. We had no problems after that. Well, except Tara threw-up on the plane as we were taxiing out to the runway, I think it was from all the nerves and stress of the day. Unfortunately she lost all her lunch and AA does not feed you at all, just a bag of peanuts will cost you $3. AeroMexico at least feeds you a whole meal. We finally made it to Dallas at about 8 pm, 6.5 hrs later that we were suppose to, but at least it was still friday. Then we had to drive 3 hrs to OKC. What a long day (and post, sorry).

Holy crapola! That's insane! Sucks to go through that, but sure makes a good story after the fact!
That is so sad that they had to make your trip end on a bad note...you should sue them for millions! (:
If it makes a difference, we kinda had an "incident" like this at the Atlanta airport... because I had a diaper bag, they "randomly" did a full body search on me and Andy AND then went through EVERYTHING in our bags and wouldn't let us on the plane until they'd "cleared" us to fly. We'd already been at the airport for 2 hours and Andy screamed the whole time. They wouldn't even let my mother-in-law hold the baby while they "screened" me. Then they put bruises on my sister-in-law's 7.5 month-pregnant belly, they made her show them her stomach because they didn't think she was really pregnant.
Here's a shout out to stupid airline people and stupid TSA people!
Holy sam! I think I would have been yelling/crying the whole time!
Hey, this is Milin, I used to live by you in Davenport, remember me? I saw you on Meena's blog. This story is crazy! That's funny that you had to lie about how far along you were when your pregnant. I'm pregnant right now and I'm going to have to lie too for a cruise my husband and I are going on because we bought it and then after we found out I couldn't be more that 24 weeks at anytime during the cruise. So we don't loose a ton of money, I'm going to have to say I'm 20 weeks even though I'll be 26. Not much of a difference! I think it's dumb, because if you feel fine, then you should be able to travel if you want!
Randy!...good story :)
