(Curtesy of Paula Dean, so you could just print it off of her website if you want)
1 C flour
1 T sugar, plus 1 1/2 Cups ( I think I narrowed this down to 1 C)
1 t baking powder
pinch of salt
1/2 C (1 stick) butter, softened
1/4 C milk
1 quart (4 cups) fresh or frozen blueberries
2 C water
Stir flour, 1 T sugar, baking powder and salt together in a medium bowl. Cut butter into the dry ingredients with a pastry cutter or fork. Add the milk to form dough, and don't over-stir. Just until moistened. Set the dumpling dough aside. In a large (wide) saucepan, combine berries, 1 1/2 c sugar, and water and bring it to a boil.. Drop dumplings by they tablespoonful into the boiling berry mixture. Cover pot, reduce heat to low, and cook slowly for 20-30 minutes. DO NOT remove the lid for the first 20 minutes, and don't stir the dumplings. Serve warm with vanilla ice cream, or fresh cream (or milk). Enjoy! I'm sure you could do this with other fruit like peaches or blackberries, or raspberries, but I haven't tried. It's kinda like a cobbler.
